Madhubani | Curry Peepal
From the artists of the Mithila region in India / Nepal, comes the art of Madhubani painting. The motifs are unique to the region - what started as art to decorate the outer walls of houses, has now transformed to various product categories including apparel, accessories and interior decor. The colours are bright and each items is painstakingly hand painted using techniques passed down from generations. It takes days to finish one item. Fabrics commonly used are cotton and silk, and handmade paper is used for wall art.
This traditional art has been revived in the last few years and is now thriving thanks to the global recognition it has received.
